Couples Therapy and Relationship Issues for Individuals

I have been able to find more clarity, peace and acceptance in many of my own life experiences through the support of psychotherapy. Each of these turning points, whether positive or negative, has contributed something unique and beneficial to my life. While the circumstances may have been difficult and painful, my experience within therapy has helped me to grow through them with more grace and confidence. As I walk with you on your journey, my hope is for you to experience similar benefits.

I will provide you with a safe space where you will be accepted, supported, and encouraged while working through uncertain times or uncomfortable feelings. I prompt self-reflection and self-love in all of my sessions. I will promote trust in yourself and help you learn to turn inward for guidance. I will always urge you to be kind to yourself.

I have over 14 years of experience working in the mental health field: first in community mental health and the past five years in a private practice setting. Prior to completing my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, I worked in finance and higher education for 10 years after completing my Bachelors Degree in Communication. These were valuable career experiences that helped to shape me and revealed what I was passionate about, and what I was not. Ultimately, I knew it was time for me to pursue my passion for helping others in a greater capacity.

It is possible for you to feel less nervous, irritable, insecure, reactive, restless and on edge. You can decrease your negative thought patterns and difficulty concentrating. Accepting and embracing your sensitivities can help you feel more peaceful, motivated, balanced and more alive.

I describe my style as compassionate and authentic; relational and collaborative. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and progress. The therapeutic methods I align with most are Humanistic Therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. I also often utilize CBT (Cognitive-behavioral Therapy) in helping clients to shift the way they think, and therefore behave. I adapt my approach to fit each client’s individual needs and circumstances, as much as possible.

Therapy with me

My ideal client will be motivated to do the work with me to better your situation. This will include allowing yourself to be open, honest and vulnerable in our sessions. I may ask you to look back at situations from your past and dig deeper into your relationships to find patterns and connections relative to your present struggles. At times, I will suggest “homework” or provide you with other resources to explore. You should be prepared for your work in therapy to continue outside of our sessions in order to experience results you’re hoping to achieve.

On a personal note…

I am usually trying to keep up with my second grader! We enjoy being outside as much as we can. Some of my favorite Colorado activities are skiing, hiking and camping. I moved to Denver in 2012 from New Jersey, where I was born and raised, but never had a feeling of belonging. Colorado has been a better fit and feels more like home.

Outside of therapy, I have a passion for rescuing and fostering Bullmastiffs, which I have done for over 14 years. Pictured here are my two fur babies, one of which is a foster-fail. During the pandemic, I began a new hobby of painting old furniture and learned how soothing it can be to paint and restore beauty.
