Colorado Connecting Paths Couples Therapy

Take the Path toward Healing and Connection

When your partnership feels off balance, everything else in life can feel off too. Couples counseling is a powerful way to work through the challenges that come with being in a relationship.

Relationships form the core of our lives, shaping our experiences, emotions, and overall well-being. If you’re thinking about and seeking couples therapy, it doesn’t indicate that your relationship is in trouble; it shows that your relationship means enough to you to invest in it, nurture it, and improve it.

Couples Therapy in Capitol Hill…

I’m passionate about working with couples in therapy because of the opportunity it provides for meaningful connections and growth for you, both personally and relationally. To me, it is a privilege when a couple chooses me as the therapist who will walk along the path with them as they seek a more fulfilling and harmonious partnership. I appreciate the intricacy of human connections and the continuous effort required to nurture them. Even the most well-intentioned individuals can struggle in their relationships. Every one of us brings a unique background and life experiences to a relationship.

I prioritize creating a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you and your partner can openly explore your emotions and concerns to ensure that your couples therapy experience is effective and transformative. My approach to relationship counseling combines proven therapeutic techniques with a deep understanding of human connection.

Working with couples can be challenging and requires the therapist to be skilled in managing complex emotions and various relationship dynamics. My own personal growth and experiences within relationships have significantly deepened my interest in working with couples, in addition to enabling me to connect with couples on a deeper level. I’m able to provide a genuine and compassionate therapeutic experience, which ultimately strengthens my commitment to this meaningful work. I know the value of effective communication, self-awareness, and emotional vulnerability in maintaining a healthy and thriving partnership.

In my couples work, I want to support you in increasing your overall relationship satisfaction. I will challenge you to be honest with yourself and each other—even if it's uncomfortable at first. I want you to be able to trust each other enough to speak up when something isn't right, so that you can get back on track together. I will work with you and your partner to identify the root causes of problems in your relationship. In our sessions, I will provide you with tools and strategies to improve communication, build trust, and deepen intimacy.

I am trained in the Gottman Method for couples therapy, and while I strongly believe in and utilize this method, I also understand that every relationship is unique. Therefore, I tailor our sessions and my approach to fit your needs. The Gottman Method is an approach that focuses on helping couples develop healthy and long-lasting relationships. It's grounded in over 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, who have identified key predictors of relationship success and failure. I also closely follow the works of couples therapists Esther Perel and Terry Real and couples and sex therapist Dr. Tammy Nelson, and integrate their ideas into my approach as well.

Areas of Marriage Counseling/Couples Counseling that I can help with:

You’re facing a major life transition together.

Physical and/or emotional intimacy feels stale or is non-existent. You may feel more like roommates than partners.

You and your partner are feeling disconnected, perhaps to the point of living separate lives.

One or both of you is thinking about having an affair.

You feel like your partner doesn’t listen to, understand, or support you.

You may want to end your relationship, but you’re not sure how to have that conversation or need support as the two of you navigate this process together.

Pre-marital Counseling to feel more solid in your partnership as you deepen your commitment.

Sexual problems: you may have mismatched libidos or experience difficulties in the bedroom, which can lead to frustration and tension.

You are considering opening your relationship but you want to be sure you’re both on the same page with how to move forward with this plan.

You’re having a difficult time agreeing on significant marital/ partnership decisions.

You feel like you don’t really know your partner anymore.

One or both of you keeps big secrets from each other (i.e. finances, friendships, etc.).

There is a lot of love between you and your partner and you want to strengthen the bond you do have.

There is a common misconception that couples must be in crisis to seek counseling for their relationship. The truth is that couples therapy can be a valuable investment for any couple looking to strengthen their relationship.
